COLLABORATIVE POEM
A long time ago
When diapers weren't made of paper, Color was black and white, I looked for things I did not know: A dozen plums growing on Plum Street. Marsden Hartley saw elephants on Dogtown Where our family went blueberrying across the Common. We climbed Cadillac Mountain to reach heaven, To see the breezes move the ocean. I lived by the ocean where salt water Sparkled like diamonds in the sun. It was God's country. inspired by Art Conversations with participants from Day by Day Adult Day Health Center in Gloucester Based on two paintings: Dogtown by Marsden Hartley, and Glare On The Bay by John Sloan |
