At museum, cinema, nature reserve, or in your own home, pathways to express, connect and reclaim the joy of shared discovery are possible for living fully in the moment with memory loss. In this workshop, we'll explore a variety of creative engagements-art conversations, poems to paintings, photovoice projects, materials workshops- empowering voice & wellbeing, revealing the humanity of whole persons beyond diagnosis or health condition. Creating Experimental Materials Exploration Workshops Are you wondering how to successfully engage some of the seniors or individuals living with memory loss at your program? This workshop looks at experimental practices for creative expression through meaningful, failure free, individualized engagement found in the mediums of collage, paint, music, art journaling, poetry and loose drawing exercises. Six unique projects empower sense of agency, discovery and feelings of freedom. All Invite discovery of creative flow. When we offer a variety of expressive pathways, individuals can uncover voice and discover uniquely personal language. Photovoice Training & Toolkit Photovoice is a participatory action research methodology created by Dr. Caroline Wang to empower voice and vision for persons who are often marginalized and not seen in the fullness of their personhood Photovoice gives access to uniquely personal visual language and expression of things of importance through photography and writing exercises, Learn the tools to create a Photovoice experience and skills to make the experience accessible to all levels of ability. Capturing images builds visual thinking strategies. The workshop teaches methods of how to choose cameras, instruct in photo-taking and use templates to awaken writing to images. You will be amazed at the process and the paintings that emerge. Paintings can then be exhibited as permanent installation at home, gallery, care program or community space. We'll look at how to choose artworks and create guiding questions that invite close looking and open-ended, failure free conversations for individuals to come together and form communities of meaning and wellbeing.
