POWER OF PLACE PROJECT AT CAPE ANN MUSEUM
"To love a painting is to feel that this presence is... not an object but a voice." Andre Malraux
SLOW ART CONVERSATION looking at a PAINTING
Senior participants from area nursing home sharing their observations of Marsden Hartley paining
at Cape Ann Museum
L: I see two walking paths.
A: Wakes you up and gives you awareness
R: I’ve been asking for oils for over a year. You can get lost in it. (painting)
Renee shared her pencil drawing of manatees – 2012 National Winner – Art from the Heart
A: I would like to try painting.
R. Make a line and go from there. There is no right and wrong in art. It doesn’t matter.
People don’t open themselves enough to feel the joy.
P: If I could stand, I would be running.... Opens your thinking.
R: Art belongs to everyone – it belongs to the world.
P: I loved taking the train to the MFA – made me feel like a princess.
Thank you very much. It was delightful to be with you today.
A: Right up my alley.
L: Most interesting and helpful in my thinking of art.
R: Very uplifting and interesting. The more art you see – you get a lot of feedback from people.
P: Can’t keep everything inside. Perked out the cobwebs!
