Cape Ann Museum Power of Place Project Reflections from Participants
Annie: I loved all of it. I love art! …..I wish more people could come from our place. Getting out and
they’d appreciate.
Mary: Awesome feeling being in the museum. I traveled all over the world (opera singer).Started
singing as a child. It came naturally. It was a great life.
Pearl: It’s restful looking at the paintings. Restful and peaceful.
Annie: Makes me feel happy, I love art. Everyone I know is a fisherman. I grew up in East Gloucester.
My uncles owned every fish plant.
Richie: I’m a fish cutter – fast paced one swipe from the gills down. I liked the pace.

Laura: I enjoyed spending time in front of each painting….I never looked at art, never get to see any of it.
It means so much to you to think born and brought up in this area and not know any of this. I think I’ll
remember it now. I’ve never been in this museum before…I enjoy it more each time… That was lovely.
We took all of this for granted….How lucky we are to have this museum.
Adrian: Never had more fun.
Betty: It’s normal. I have been cooped up for 11 years and it’s a treat to do something normal. Unless
you have a private chauffeur, you aren’t going anywhere. I used to be a hiker, so I’m used to being out.

Lila: Laughter. We are laughing more than usual.
Dot: We all look at something and see it differently.

Betty: I could stay here forever. I don’t tire of it. It’s beautiful – the blue and yellow. It’s very soothing.
The land masses.
